this weekend we ventured out of the city and headed to the glorious San Juan Islands - oh how I love the state of Washington! Check out this scenery.... it was the most perfect little getaway.
this magical place was just named #3 on National Geographic's 2011 World Travel Destinations - I feel so lucky to live just a short drive and ferry ride from the oasis of clear water, lush green trees and bounty of wildlife - here I am spotting pods of orca whales breeching in the distance! It was amazing.
Next time we'll have to visit the alpaca farm, the lavender fields, rent a moped and cruise the island...but this time around all we wanted to do was lay around and soak up the sun!
Do you have any local escapes? Even short little getaways can be so fulfilling and make you feel a million miles away.....

Isn't San Juan AMAZING?! Love that place! I went there twice last summer. Washington is just so stinkin' cool :)
